Various types of silica gel form different microporous structures due to their different manufacturing methods. The chemical organization and physical structure of silica gel determine that it has many characteristics that other similar materials cannot replace: high adsorption performance, good thermal stability, stable chemical properties, and high mechanical strength.
What is the difference between color-changing silica gel desiccant and transparent silica gel desiccant? In the desiccant market, silica gel desiccant can be divided into two types: ordinary silica gel desiccant (transparent) and color-changing silica gel desiccant.
The difference between the two is that the color-changing silica gel desiccant can be used as an indicator of hygroscopicity, that is, after the desiccant absorbs water, it can be judged according to whether it absorbs water or whether it is saturated in color. General color-changing silica gel desiccants are divided into orange and blue.
Ordinary silica gel desiccant (that is, ordinary moisture-proof beads) will not change color after absorbing moisture, unless it changes color due to the adsorption of external organic gas or liquid. In some cases, a small amount of ordinary silica gel desiccant will turn milky white after absorbing moisture (for a long time).
The color-changing silica gel desiccant is mainly due to adsorption saturation and discoloration (reaching the function of moisture absorption indicator). The decolorized silica gel desiccant is saturated with moisture absorption and cannot be used again. Of course, it can be reused after simple processing, but it is not recommended to reuse. After all, the water absorption rate of second-hand materials is very low, and the moisture-proof effect cannot be achieved, which may affect the quality of the product.
